I dont think that i will write on it alot just because i will have a lot of work in highschool and not alot of time. But yes. I would definitly like to keep it online.

My Favorite book is TOM. I’ve read it tons of times and it never gets old. Tom is a dinosaur that takes a vacation to newyork. At first no one likes him, but then he finds a boy that helps him to start doing art. Then he becomes famous! He draws art all over New York, and everyone loves it! I read it when I was 5 and I still read it now. Tom doesnt really fall into my favorite genre, because my favorite genre is fiction. I mostly like fiction about kids my age. I like reading about fake teen drama, dilemmas, and obstacles.

So last friday we went on the cruise! It was really fun, but it was a little short… First we walked to the silverspring Metro station, and took it to the waterfront in DC. We walked to the ship and it was huge! There was dancing, food, and a DJ. Most of us went on the top deck to take pictures, and it was really nice. This kid that got suspended unfairly, was not allowed to go on the cruise even after he had paid for it, so he decided to get his moneys worth and sneak on. He made it all the way on the boat and had food, and then finally the administrator that suspended him, who was there the whole time finally caught him. It was really funny how no one noticed him the whole time.

So me and my friends usally take up 2 tables right next to eachother at lunch. Last week we came down to lunch and they were all seperated. So, we just moved them like 3 feet to be close to eachother again. Then Mr. Kelly walked over and was like ALL OF YOU ARE GETTING DENTENTION! sign the paper. We were all like what the heck! On the paper that they gave us it said we had dentention for “not following directions.” What directions did they give us? none. So i think that was pretty stupid….

I am reading a book called “it’s kind of a funny story”.I’m about half way through it and its about this guy who is really ambitious and tries to get into this really high level school, and he studies and studies and studies and is kindof a nerd. But once he gets in to the school, I guess he doesnt really know what to do with himself, and over time he gets depressed. He just checked himself into the hospital and thats as far as i have gotten. The next book i want to read is “Looking for Alaska” by John Green.

I really liked this poem Becoming Free by Suzannah from Atlanta,GA. I interpreted the poem as one about making changes.
One line that really stood out to me was “Sometimes I want to soar like a silver tipped bird into a silky blue sky, singing with the soft sounds of the wind.” I can really visualize whats happening in that phrase. Another line that i liked was “I’d like to spread my wings to the farthest gates of the earth, pushing off this dry land in escape from this path I have taken too long.” This verse shows that she wants to make changes in her life, and “spread her wings”.
Thank you Suzannah, i can’t wait to hear more from you because this poem was really great!

I’m so excited for summer, its not even funny. 8th grade was fun and everything, but this summer is going to be the best one yet.First I’m going to hershey park with one of my best friends! We went last year too and it was so much fun. We had our own hotel room, we dyed our hair, and i love rollercoasters. Then im going to just hangout with friends for a while, until i got to volleyball camp with N,A,C,and Z. I really like playing volleyball even though i’m not that great at it, so this camp should be fun.Next im going to my favorite sleepaway camp for 2 weeks. I’m really excited for this, because i have a blast every year. This will be my fifth year going, and i cant wait. You get to choose the classes you take online before you go to camp, and on the weekend you go cosmic bowling, roller skating, and to an amusment park! Finally I am going to go to Mexico in early august. We usually go to this place that is 1 hour south of cancun, because it is less crowded and has a nice town walking distance from our hotel, but this year we are staying in Cancun. I’m excited because we stayed there the first year we went and it has great beaches, the hotels are super nice and there are loads of things around like water parks, lauguns to go snorkling in and much much more. As you can see, i have a pretty busy summer ahead of me, and i am so ready!

Today I woke up, had a warm breakfast, drove to school in my car, with warm clothes on my back. These are things we take for granted here in America, but all the people in Darfur have none of these day to day amenities.
This all started in 2003, when a rebel group of farmers realized that they weren’t getting paid enough for their work, and the Sudanese government had more money then they were saying they had. So when the rebels started protesting, and boycotting, the Sudanese government responded by dehumanizing and trying to exterminate the whole Darfur region.
The Genocide in the Darfur region has been going on for 5 years now, and every day people are killed raped and ran out of their villages by the Janjaweed militia. 2.5 million have already been left homeless and starving, while 200,000 have died. The Chinese government has a big vote in the UN congress and they have been voting against helping Darfur, because Sudan supplies them with oil, and China supplies them with weapons, and military supplies. People have started talking about boycotting the Olympics (which are held in China this year).
In conclusion, Darfur needs us to help, and the International community has a global responsibility to take action.

Remember, March 6th is International Darfur Awarness day! Please go the the Many Vocies for Darfur Blog, and post a thoughtful well written comment about your opinions on this issue.
There is a game called Darfur is dying, and although it is just an online computer game, it represents what is really happining in the Darfur Region today. In this game you can forage for water, and you have to aviod being captured by the Janjaweed Militia, water crops, rebuild forts, and keep your villages health up and threat of being attacked down.
